Central
School Intermediate is located in downtown Shelby, directly behind the city
fire station. Our building is adjacent to the Middle School on the east side
of the Black Fork River.
Nearly 350 students in grades five and six attend Central. When you visit, notice
our gazebo outdoor classroom and the butterfly garden. We've also planted shrubs
and flowers to attract birds and squirrels to our outdoor habitat. We also have
an Ohio garden with samples of Ohio flint and the state flower, carnation, planted
at the edges.
Our PTO is a dynamic group of hard-working, dedicated parents who support many
of our school's special activities: landscaping projects; instructional materials
for classrooms; assemblies and guest speakers; and purchase of new playground
equipment. Many of our parents help us with field trips, school committees,
and district initiatives.
Carton Service, Inc., recognized as an Outstanding Ohio Volunteer Program in
1997, is our school business partner. Carton Service provides our students with
the hands-on Carton Kids lessons, which simulate some of the work done at its
manufacturing plant. Another business partner is the Air National Guard staff
who participate in many of our outdoor projects.
We welcome visitors! Our staff is highly experienced and dedicated to quality
teaching. Stop by and visit us any time!
