SHELBY CHOIR

The Shelby Choral Department involves any interested students in grades 6 – 12. Students meet daily during the instructional day at Shelby Middle School and Shelby Senior High School. Various performances are held throughout the year.

The Director of Choral Activities is Mr. Brian Nabors and the Accompanist/Assistant is Ms. Katherine Vichinsky. The Shelby Choral Department consists of the Chamber Choir, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, Sixth Grade, Seventh Grade, and Eighth Grade Choirs.

CHOIR CALENDAR

DESCRIPTION OF CHOIRS

Sixth Grade Choir:
Consists of any sixth grade student that wishes to participate in choir. We rehearse five times a week during the school day. You are able to participate in band in addition to being in as well.  We will focus will be on basic vocal techniques that will help you throughout your time in the Choral department.

Seventh Grade Choir:
Consists of any seventh grade student that wishes to participate in choir.  We will build on the ideas learned from the sixth grade choir studies.  Opportunities to participate in the OMEA Solo & Ensemble is possible.  Prior choral experience is not required to participate in this group.

Eighth Grade Choir:
Consists of any eighth grade student that has previous choral experience.  We will build on the ideas learned from the past years studies.  Opportunities to participate in the OMEA Solo & Ensemble is highly recommended.

High School Men’s Choir:
Consists of any Tenor or Bass student in grades 9 – 12 that has previous choral experience or received permission by the instructor.

High School Women’s Choir:
Consists of any Soprano or Alto student in grades 9 – 12 that has previous choral experience or received permission by the instructor.

High School Chamber Choir:
Consists of any student in grades 9 – 12. This select group is by audition only.

High School Sunny Side Up:
This is an un-auditioned barbershop female group that sings music of the classic and contemporary barbershop style.  This select group is by audition only.

High School Melloettes:
Consists of any Soprano or Alto student that is currently enrolled in grades 9 – 12. This select group is by audition only. Use the Star Spangled Banner piece.

High School Concert Choir
Consists of any student in grades 9-12 who wish to sing in choir!
